I'm really new here and I have a couple of questions...
1. Can different genus breed with each other, or do they need to be the same? (Ie. alicorn x kelpie, or is it alicorn x alicorn only?)
2. Related to the above but can different genus rarities breed? (Ie. common x rare, or is it just common x common?)
3. Do they have to be male and female to breed, or can you submit breeding requests for same sex pairings?
4. Similarly to question three, are you able to mate same sex pairings together?
5. Is there any way to change the uploaded artwork for a custom / CYO after it's been submitted, waiting in the queue, or approved?
6. Just for clarity's sake / so I know what to expect, does anyone know the general wait time for CYO approval?
7. Is cross-site trading allowed? I know some petsites allow it and some don't, so I wasn't sure.
8. Is there a way to trade WS and DS between each other? (As in, is there a market for buying DS with WS? And if so, what is the current ratio?)
9. Is there a limit to how many pets you can own, or is it just based off of how many you have approved?
10. Do pets have a breeding cooldown after they've been bred?
11. Can you mate a pet to more than one, or is it monogamy-only and no polyamorous pairings?

1. Certain combinations are possible, e.g. Kitsori & Kudo are this one's parents:
Myrio (m). The ponies and unicorns stay with themselves, and I think the Exclusives do so, too.

3/4. No clue. Breeding is still a manual process, so I'm not sure if anyone even checks that, but some software-aided breeding is in the works, as far as I know ...
(I would totally mate 3 pets together if I could. They just belong together!)

7. I guess it is allowed, considering that @Rhowyn has a trade thread for FR treasure.

It seems @Flederfalle answered most of these, but I'm going to clarify them and answer those she was unsure of.
1. Yes, crossing breeding is allowed.
2. Cross breeding based on rarity is also allowed, however it requires a special breeding item. Exclusive pets follow the rules for breeding Rares.
3-4. Yes, they have to be male/female to breed as pet breeding is biological rather than being done via magic or some such. Mating is part of breeding and really only serves to grant higher chances for bonus offspring, so keeping that in mind, mating also only works for male/female pets.
5. The artwork for a custom can be updated by staff only after a pet has been approved. This isn't something we'll do without a good reason, usually because someone uploaded the wrong image and needs the pet to be fixed.
6. We try to get pets approved within 48 hours of when they were uploaded. That doesn't always work out though.

8. If you click on the WS/DS amount in the bar at the top of the page you can gift currency that way. Our trading feature is coming soon.
