Peryton
Sometimes referred to as spirit guides, perytons can see and communicate with the dead. This makes them popular with those who have suffered a great loss, as touching a peryton will allow you to see what they see, but this power also marks them in common superstition as omens of death. Unlike the sianach, however, perytons are considered a sign of a peaceful death, and as such, many with loved ones close to the end of their lives seek them out to try and ease their passing. While this is mostly superstition, it's theorized that seeing a peryton after one's death helps the deceased to accept their death and move on, rather than clinging to life as a ghost. Those who have studied and worked closely with perytons report that they seem to have the ability to control spirits, as well as see and communicate with them, although this has not been proven.

Phoenix
Said to be born from one of the hottest volcanoes in Faenaria's history, the first phoenix still lives today, a massive creature who makes its nest in the same volcano where it first came to life. Like their ancestor, the phoenixes found across Faenaria can live indefinitely, reborn from the ashes of their former selves. Unlike the First Phoenix, however, they can be destroyed permanently, by dissipating their ashes immediately after they die. Phoenixes have incredible control over the element of fire, and cannot be burned or otherwise harmed by heat and fire; when bonded, they can briefly grant this power to their master, although it is taxing on both parties. A phoenix feather can act as a fire protection charm, and is commonly found in kitchens and bakeries. Fierce and loyal creatures, phoenixes are often passed down through families as a protector and companion.
