AHH, Land Before Time! Those movies (all of them) were basically my life when I was little! I can still remember imitating Spike and Ducky all the time. As soon as I grew out of them, they were replaced by Whitetip's Journey, and then finally Dinosaur. I really need to rewatch those movies soon. :3
Pottermore can't seem to decide which house I should be in. Out of four tries, the only one it hasn't put me in is Slytherin, and I'm sure if I took it again that's what I'd get. I'd reset my account to go back to Hufflepuff (currently in Gryffindor), but I'm far too pleased with my patronus.

Yeah, I wasn't sure what to title this, so I just quacked. That was how I introduced myself, so why not start a conversation in the same manner?
Anyway, welcome to my humble hangout thread! :3 If you ever want to talk about birds, dinosaurs, basically anything to do with animals and nature, or Harry Potter, you've found the right place to do so! Or, if you just want to throw pies at me, you can do that, too! It's a hangout thread, after all.
*ducks as a volley of a pies are launched at me*
Damnit, I got pie all over my new dress. D:
Anyway, I'm sure you all need some fodder for conversation before you'll start posting, so... to start with, my favorite animal is Dilophosaurus wetherilli, a theropod dinosaur discovered in the Kayenta formation of Arizona. It may not have had that awesome neck frill like it did in Jurassic Park, but it reached 20 feet long and it was one of the largest carnivores in its habitat... although whether it was a hunter, scavenger, or fisher is still unknown. There have been trackways attributed to Dilophosaurus that show multiple sets of footprints, indicating it may have lived in groups.
My favorite living animal is probably the turkey vulture, although it's really difficult to pick a favorite and I could probably list 20 animals off the top of my head that are my "favorite". I don't really know what it is I like about them, actually... who doesn't love an animal that pees on its own legs to stay cool and projectile vomits at predators?
But seriously though, I think they're awesome.
As for Harry Potter, I'm a Hufflepuff and proud of it! I'm also in Horned Serpent house, with a Laurel and unicorn hair wand, and my patronus is a raven. My favorite character is a tie between Neville (dopey but badass) and Prof. McGonagall. (Oh, come on! She has so many lovable moments! "It unscrews the other way," anyone?)
Sorry if this was a bit of a ramble.

Hellooo! Dinosaurs are super awesome! I them! Growing up my favorite movie was Land Before Time (the original). I still love that movie. I watched it the year before last, just a couple months after my Mom passed away.... HUGE mistake, I lost it and cried so hard. But it still remains one of my favorites. That and The Lion King! (I apparently like movies where a parent dies lol)
I used to think of myself as Gryffindor, but I'm not so sure. I feel Slytherin is somewhat fitting with a splash of Hufflepuff. But still mostly Griffindor for me.

Originally I took the test and got Slytherin, wild cat, unicorn hair, and pukwudgie. I think it fit well.
...I lost my account and took the test again.
I got Ravenclaw, black stallion, unicorn hair, and pukwudgie. I'm having a hard time accepting the two changes lol

Yes! Same! As the series went on it got rather stupid, but the first 5 or 6 movies weren't too bad actually. Dinosaur is great!! I'm also a huge fan of Jurassic Park!
Ohhh see I've read the books a couple times and seen the movies (oh so bad were they), but I came into it kind of late (I got into it a few months before the 5th book released) and my friends were already over the craze so I had nobody to geek out about it with so I never really got super into it. I have been a fan and did get my Mom into them as well, so there's that.

When I saw Jurassic Park for the first time, I thought it was kinda boring (I was a six year old who wasn't overly fond of live action movies), all I remember was that scene with the raptors in the kitchen and the part where What's-his-name climbs on the fence and pretends to be electrocuted. I think I ought to revisit that one, too.
Well, you were waaaay earlier to the party than me. When book 5 (my favorite one, actually :3) was released, I was still a toddler. Almost. I finished the series about four years ago. But that just means I grew up with it... I have fond memories of riding the school bus with a heavy book propped open in my lap, and reading about Ron's locket that his girlfriend gave him during free time in class.
My mom's a total muggle (she thinks she doesn't like fantasy.... except she likes Star Trek, Dead Like Me, and a few other fantasy shows -_-) and my dad would never admit to enjoying Harry Potter, even if he obviously does.

Really? I saw it when I was 5 in the theater and mostly I loved it, but it also scared me. The one dinosaur (I will never remember its name lol) that eats the slobby guy with glasses.... Yeah I was afraid it was under my bed. I rewatch it every now and then, it no longer frightens me of course, but I love it just as much even now! I rather liked the 2nd one too.
Well I'm old, too. I was a teenager when they were coming out. Reading like that for me... was always Star Wars books. Except I went to a small private school so my books were considered inappropriate and I wasn't technically allowed to read them in school. I sat in the back mostly so I snuck and read them anyway.
My Mom got into pretty much everything I was into. But with me she had to because I always became obsessive over stuff. Star Wars was a HUUUUGE obsession for me, it kind of still is even though I've moved to other things. It has a special place in my heart.

The only guy getting eaten I can remember was that dude on the toilet. I remember giggling about it when I was little. If the dinosaur was small enough for you to be afraid of having it under the bed, I'm assuming it was a Jurassic Parkified Dilophosaurus. The little one with the neck frill, right?
I wasn't technically supposed to be reading, either. But the teacher I had for that part of the day was really lax, and so I'd just read at my desk when I was done with my work. I did get one of my books confiscated once, by a different teacher... but to be fair, I was supposed to be helping my table with a project.
I get into pretty much everything my mom is into, lol. No one really watches TV at my house until past 7:30 (when we usually eat dinner), and she basically rules the remote. Which is fine by me, I'm always up for Star Trek: Voyager.

Oh my gosh, "seven thirty" (as in the time) got turned into a smiley.
Anyway, I just realized I'm officially not a newbie anymore, since my name doesn't show up on the new users list. Congratulations, me!
