Awwww Star I'm sorry it didn't go as you had hoped. It was such a good idea, I'm sorry hungover people had to ruin it. *soft hugs*

I keep forgetting to buy candy I should probably do that today. If I buy it today it may even still be here on Halloween. (I have impulse control issues okay )

Boy do I know you mean! My roommate bought our candy and had to hide it so I wouldn't eat all the Twizzlers!

Happy Halloween everyone! Anyone doing anything fun today? Today is trick or treat in our city, so Mary and I will be just be handing out candy to all the kids. I don't think there will be a lot, we live on a dead end.

burning the ever loving bleep out of my finger doing a stupid thing apparently. I really really should have known that was stupid before I did it. I baked an oven pancake/dutch baby last night and my smoke alarm went off when I opened the oven so I was like oh I need to clean the oven but not right now it's hot (smart so far). Anyways, I go to do the same thing tonight. Turn the oven on to preheat then 30s-1min later go oh wait I need to clean the oven. turn the oven back off. Then grab my little broom, sweep some of the dust off the easily accessible bottom (no problems so far doesn't feel hot or anything) so then like an idiot I stick my hand in there to pick up the heating element so i can sweep under it. Luckily it was my non dominant hand and only a single finger. But yeah as it turns out oven heating elements get quite warm quite quickly. *smart people do stupid things. I am still a smart person.* sometimes my street smarts only kick in in hindsight though.

I did a really stupid thing years ago - I was at a friends house and we were talking in the kitchen. She had one of those stove tops on the counter rather than a whole oven. Well it felt like one of the burners was on, but rather than look at the knobs, I put my hand on the hot burner. I never did that again!

oh ouch. Given how much this one finger hurts (granted I am a bit of a weenie about pain not a bad thing just a fact) I do not envy your recovering for that. (it does make me feel a bit better though). I did a good thing today though and got my flu shot so while that also hurts a bit (I tensed my arm, I know better but I did it anyways since tensing your arm is a pretty reasonable reaction to getting stabbed with a needle).

Good for you for getting your flu shot! I'm one of those people who gets ill from the shot so I never get it.

So is my best friend. I figured that I’d give it a try and if it didn’t make me sick both benefit myelf (I do not have time for the flu) and other people through my contribution to public health

I need to talk to my doctor about it. I have a compromised immune system and am on immunosuppressants. Rheumatoid arthritis does crazy things to your immune system, and I'm always afraid of getting a vaccine. My immune system is already overactive, but I know he believes in flu shots, I'm just afraid of getting sick.

Definitely not good to risk your own health for the sake of a vaccination. I am not an expert but the flyer/consent form they had us sign said the vaccine was made of dead virus and therefore couldn't make you sick. I would definitely ask/believe the expert though because immune system weirdness could definitely shift that around.

I probably should get the shot. I'm just afraid because last time I got it I had flu-like symptoms. I know you don't actually get the flu, but I get symptoms like the flu from the shot. I just don't want to get sick.

an understandable fear. Sick sucks no matter what you have going on in your life. My arm finally doesn't hurt anymore today so even if you don't get sick the shot can be a pain They were trying to advertise that the pain was because your body was being protected. The voice of logic in my head was like no the pain has nothing to do with my immune response and everything to do with the fact that I got stabbed by a needle and clenched my arm. (I mean it would have hurt either way but it's way worse when you tense up)

How is your arm today star?

Arm is all good. Burn is mostly healed. (It looks fine, still hurts a bit if I take the bandaid off/let it dry out so we're giving it a few more days of nice damp antibacterial goo to finish healing. Only current injury is the cuticle that has decided to peel itself back and start bleeding periodically.
