Woohoo! Let's chat it up guys!!

Half an hour ago I made a couple mug brownies in the microwave and shared with my sisters... a little piece of chocolatey heaven. Quick, easy, and satisfied my cravings!! Do you guys ever make impromptu treats like that?

Heck yeah! I love making brownies like that! (Or at least I did when I had a microwave... rip)
Honestly anything chocolatey is my downfall. xD

Okay, so I kinda vanished there. Was ill one day, and completely stuck in a book series other days, and these past few days we've FINALLY had good weather so I've been busy obsessing over that Seriously, I've been wearing my winter jacket until now, in JUNE, because it's been stupidly cold and periods of snow and general miserableness ;_; Aaaaanyway, reading through what you've guys been chatting about, gonna jump in on this way late

I wish I had the patience to keep learning piano! I was in lessons for years but I fell out of the habit of practicing so then I just quit. I don't want to sit there and learn notes and scales, I want to magically know how to play all my favorite songs - sounds reasonable, right? xD

I'm trying to read and stay hydrated this summer, along with having fun! I'm interested in getting into modern calligraphy, so I'm going to try and do a quote every few days. I really want those expensive brush tip markers but they're just so... expensive. *sniffles*

I TOTALLY relate on the "I want to KNOW this, not LEARN this"-issue. I'm that way with so many things. Very frustrating! Also, yay, calligraphy! That's one of the things I have been admiring foreeever but never managed to make myself try out until last year. Finally took the plunge, and still sticking with it! My trouble there is that I want to do everything at once (that has also snowballed and dragged me into watercolour, Instagram is dangerous!) so instead of focusing my efforts on one tool and one style and really mastering that, I am all over the place and doing a bit of this one day and then a bit of something else another day, so my progress isn't exactly tremendous, but at least I'm having fun, and that's the main thing What brush pens do you have your eye on?

Ahhh calligraphy is so much fun! That's awesome! And yeah, I also want those markers but... money. <_< Apparently there are cheaper versions out there but I've never seen them.

I've been interested in Calligraphy since before high school, but I got my first pen and ink pot in... grade 12? Which was... 2010. xD Unfortunately, my ex stole that ink pot from me and I wasn't able to get another until a few years ago, because small cities in the prairies suck. So even though I've been into it for a while, I really don't spend that much time on it unfortunately.
(The other issue is that the ink pots an pens can be disastrously messy when you're starting out, and I have 3 cats. Do the math. It does not add up to anything good. xD)

Oh no, sucky ex! D: And yeah, I totally get the supply-acquiring-troubles. I can get none of my supplies locally, I have to order everything online. Mostly from out of the country as well, which can be an immense hassle with very high international shipping and customs fees D: I really envy those who can just take a stroll down the street and find themselves in fantastic stores that sell everything they need. (Though considering that my self control isn't the best, perhaps it's good that I don't have everything as close as that after all )

Ugh same here. We do have ONE shop in the city, but they sell out really fast and only get a few shipments in a year... plus they keep bizarre hours and are basically only open when the owner feels like it, so when I have time to go there they're almost always closed. >.< I feel those pains. Especially since the shipping fees have become so ghastly since orange face got in... I used to never pay customs fees on anything, now all of a sudden I'm paying over $20 for damn near every package I get. So no more ordering online for me!

Haha yes, pets are not conducive to art... xD For me the main trouble is my son Charlie Mouse. He LOVES helping with everything so his gray fuzzy butt is constantly sitting on papers and supplies and he plays with ink and paints and decorations... Wrapping Christmas presents has to be done in secret if we want them to look nice, because he LOVES "helping" with that. <w< Silly adorable boi.

haha, yes, fortunately with calligraphy I am willing to sit down and practice, since I enjoy the more artsy stuff and tinkering with markers - even if they are crappy ones. I don't have my eye on any particular ones, I'd just like to find some decent quality ones that aren't super overpriced. For now I just work with what I have, and try to make it look decent, hehe. A lot of the modern calligraphy artists I follow/have seen say that they started with just a pencil, etc. etc.

I envy those people too! I live in a small town, but there are a bunch of malls about 30-45 mins away, including at least one big craft store, that I know of.

YES I bought a swords when I was on my trip and he manipulated me into giving it to him. He has a lot of my stuff tbh. <-< Even stuff that means everything to me and nothing to him, just to spite me... he took my favourite drawing from when I was a kid. Like wtf. *rages*

True, a lot of the talented calligraphy artists I've seen can do it with pretty much any writing tool. xD

Seems a strange way to run a business to get so few shipments and have such irregular opening hours! Charlie Mouse sounds adorable, though it sounds tricky to work around him!

I try my best to find online stores that have at least somewhat decent shipping rates, but all too often it's over $20 no matter how little I order. Even if I find some place that's a little more reasonable, I still have the struggle of having my shopping limit pretty much halved, because I have to squeeze in under the customs limits to avoid it becoming even more expensive. It's really quite ridiculous. One of my last orders I was going to get watercolour paper, embossing pens, and I don't remember the last thing but it was something small anyway. And then I had to cut the last thing. Still over the limit. Cut the embossing pens. Juust got under that limit with only watercolour paper left in my basket, and so near exploding from the frustration D:


I do see people working with pencil all the time, Rider, but I find I don't have the patience for that. I mean, I can see that it pays off when people plan out their pieces first, going through the pencil sketch stage, but I just jump right in with markers and whatnot and hope for the best. Perhaps one day I'll be able to convince myself to do otherwise, but clearly that day has not yet arrived

My plans for the weekend are sleeping and WRITE ANYTHING. xD

It is, but it's a small family run place, so they can do what they want I guess. And Mouse IS adorable! xD I love him so much. ♥ Helping with laundry is his favourite thing; he likes picking out the socks and helping his grandma fold stuff. >w<

They are switching servers so the site's in a maintenance type of mode. Most likely to keep anyone from losing data. I think like the others I hoped it would have been over by now but it probably going to be awhile, hopefully, it won't be days. At least this time there was a warning. Someone started a Discord for Aywas so I added it on since I had downloaded it for Origins originally.
