Well, it's Monday everyone, and it's the Monday-est Monday ever. How is everyone's day going?

Trying to pass Monday Tuesday won't be much better though, have to get up at 6am which is like MIDNIGHT for me ...

It worked out pretty well. Got the application submitted friday morning in the best form it will ever occupy (because it's gone now and I refuse to ever look at it again ) just trying to get back into the swing of things now.

Hey Aleah. How's it going for you? I'm busy as always and have forgotten to buy herbs 3 stores in a row now so I get to make another store trip tomorrow solely for parsley sage rosemary and thyme Thankfully my car works now so I can do that.

Hi starlit, I'm doing pretty good! Sorry about you needing to make that extra trip! I'm grateful that I live less than a mile from a nice grocery store and Walgreen's.
Besides getting herbs, what are your plans for the weekend?

I'm hosting a friendsgiving for the lab. I already made the pies (pumpkin and cranberry/apple/pear) which was definitely my first pumpkin pie and a reasonably early pie crust from scratch. I know I've done it before but I just bought myself a pastry blender which was lifechanging. Made the brussels sprouts (roasted with bacon), sweet potatoes (just roasted and smushed), spatchocked the turkey (ripped out its spine and popped its legs out of joint so they'd sit flat), so I think all that's left is to pop the turkey in to bake and bake the bread. Oh yes I made the bread. It just needs to pop out of the fridge, finish rising, then get baked.

I have a tendency to go a bit overboard when cooking for other people...especially considering that all 9ish other people coming are also bringing food because the idea before I got carried away was a classic friendsgiving/potluck not a catered dinner. (Mostly because last time I tried to do a catered dinner I ended up with a lifetime supply of beer which I then took back to work and we STILL have not finished off )

That sounds like fun and it also sounds delicious! That's a lot of work, but it sounds like you enjoy cooking. I hope everyone has a great time!

How is everyone here holding up?

I'm holding up ok. Could be better, I've been really depressed for about the last month or two. I see my therapist on Wednesday. Almost done with Christmas shopping!

I’m glad Christmas shopping is going well. I rescheduled Christmas for january wen travel was cheaper. It’s a bit weird to not be at home for the holidays but it saved so much money.

Saving money is good. I'm super broke, I overextended myself this year . . .

Yeah. I feel that. Luckily I was able to return a rather frivolous/impulsive purchase and use that money to buy badly needed pants. Hopefully you’re still scraping by Aleah.
