as you can see, the tardigrade is sometimes depicted with a segmented body. that might help? I remember most depictions as having segmented bodies, but that might have changed?
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tardigrade the wikipedia web page might have some inspiration?

Cat with wings.
Different.Not less.
I'd love to see something like a Manticore, Cerberus, or Qirin/Kirin. Those seem to be overlooked a lot. Elementals would be fun, too.
I know I've put down a lot of suggestions already but I'm also going to suggest the ant. The reason why I'm suggesting the ant is because I just remember a youtube video of this guy who was reviewing a pet virtual website and he complained that that there weren't ridiculously common things/ pests in the virtual world like ants. I'm assuming he probably meant that as a joke. Ants I guess don't have to be pests on origins. Despite their small size, ants are very strong and carry stuff 10 to 50 times their own weight depending on their species. They are also very fast. If red ants were the size of a human they'd run at 30 mph. If Sarahan silver ants were the size of a human they'd run over 330 mph. Normally the silver ants run at 100 bps. Ants as an option for a pet could be awesome, especially if it's drawn with some form of armor.

Ohhh..! I don't know if this has been suggested already but I think a Quetzalcoatl would be an interesting addition to the site. I'd honestly die to have a cute lil' feathered serpent in my stables

I just had a thought- Pigeons! Doves and Pigeons are actually one and the same. I've always had an affection for them, but- imagine a really big pigeon. Like how sometimes they're drawn in Hatoful Boyfriend fancomics? Speaking of Hatoful Boyfriend, I feel like something cool could be done with the Luzon Bleeding Heart dove?
I feel like there's a lot that could be done with the little fellows, and while I adore Anghel, "fallen angel trying to redeem self but actually delusional child who produces hallucinogens in his blood" neither seems like the most obvious nor best thing to do with them. Maybe have them be undead? Oh! I had a teacher from that place once- when he was a child he thought that they looked like that because they ate spaghetti! Maybe we could have them as pasta-lovers?

wouldn't mind seeing a drake-une (Cross between a dragon of any species and kitsune) or some type of bird of prey, (real or mythological would be amazing)

I've just learned about quite an interesting Cryptid called: Humility. It's a weird name I know. It's basically an eagle. I'm sure there are quite a lot of people out there who like eagles. But what makes the Humility stand out are it's eyes. Eagles are known for seeing little mice on the ground a very far distance below them. The Humility's Eyes are like that but much more powerful. Because of this birds eye's, no hunter could ever shoot it. This bird could never be surprised as it would always see the bullet coming and would always dodge it. Perhaps there could be a pet combining the Thunderbird with the Humility. So basically, the thunder bird cryptid with feathers and with the eyes of the humility. I wouldn't mind seeing a giant eagle with the power of electricity and eyes making it difficult or impossible for something to hit it in the future.

Just a heads up, I went through the thread and took down a bunch of the ideas!! Be excited, very excited....
I'm so excited. Particularly since a PS4 game I've recently been fond of has ended and I'm feeling sort of lost because I'm now a person without a hobby. I'm hoping that I'll be able to adopt some pets next year
Also...I'm not sure if you're still open for more ideas but if you are ... I've learned of another cryptid which people might find interesting: The Miraj. Bunnies are cute and people often find bunnies to be adorable. Now imagine a bunny with a horn like that of a unicorn (How much cuter can you get?). Problem though is that the Miraj isn't really cute. But that's only on the surface. The miraj is actually a bloodthirsty carnivore and it uses the horn on it's head to kill prey. The miraj looks adorable but it's actually one of the more dangerous predators. It's got the speed a normal rabbit has and if those rabbits can escape a fox ... Imagine how dangerous it would be if that speed, hearing was used against something else. Apparently it can kill big game like cows and stuff and it doesn't only hunt because it's hungry. It hunts and kills because it can. Sort of reminds of the Drop Bear in terms that it's cuteness is just a facade.

On the topic of cryptids, I'm intrigued by the possibility of some kind of Toyol pet? Looking at the images of Toyol statues, they're aesthetically unpleasant, but the concept of a sort of spirit-fetus that's playful and childish and mischievous like a monkey and housed in a doll is great! Maybe, they could be depicted as sort of less human, and more like monkeys? And still have that doll part? Like, there's the doll, and floating up around, there's the spirit, and it'd be kind of like a ghosty version of what'd be to monkeys as the Pokemon Mew is to cats?
Wikipedia says;
That sounds kind of creepy, but it also sounds sort of like a chibi, almost, kind of! Honestly, what I find appealing is the concept and behavior, and the possibility of combining a Toyol with a Monkey, and maybe echidna, as, apparently;
source:https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Toyol
The wikipedia page on Toyols should be treasured while it can, because it doesn't meet Wikipedia standards, and is amazing for it, if more than a little insane.
Wikipedia says;
QuotePeople normally associate the appearance of a toyol with that of a small baby, frequently that of a newborn baby walking naked with a big head, small hands, clouded eyes and usually greenish skin. It can be seen without the use of magic, though they are unlikely to be spotted casually.
Those who did claim to encounter it described its actual appearance to be childlike (a toddler) with green/gray skin, bald, big red (alien-like) eyes, pointy ears and rows of sharp teeth, and sometimes reported with hairs, like a monkey. Its behaviour is more animal-like. It tends to climb on rooftops either to play or prior to entering houses.

QuoteIt likes to be treated like a baby echidna. Enjoys hugs like a baby and listening to lullabies. Usually under the beds of the owners, there will be toys, marbles, toy cars and baby sucklers. Likes to be rewarded with sweets and toys. Some of them will even ride a child’s tricycle. They supposedly also like to play with water.

Thinking about cryptids again. Maybe the Nuckelavee might be a good pet idea. People who like horror and stuff will probably like this one. It's a creature that looks like a horse but as well as the head of a horse ... it's also got a part of a human from the torso from it's back. This human part has very long arms, long enough for the hands to press down on the ground. It's got no skin. Apparently just it's breath is toxic and powerful enough to kill flowers and plants and stuff instantly. When this thing comes on land, it goes on a killing spree. The only way to survive an encounter with this giant is if a person can run in time to cross a river or fresh moving water.
