wow! glad you had a good experience!

Thanks! I kind of think I'm still recovering. LOL But at least I didn't get sensory overload when I was there or anything like that.

I'm kind of eager to go on another trip like that. But I know I better take things slow. lol Yesterday I helped my primary employer set our stall downtown up in a better and more spacious way.

It looks less crowded now, but there's more things in it. @trystan

Work trip sounds fun. Did you go somewhere local or was it a trip to their office?

As for decorating, that sounds very Feng Shui. Many years ago the wife of one my the salesmen suggested I move my desk, and it seems like I have so much more space after that.

it's interesting how simple things like that happen

@Yeladim I went with my landlady to a three day market two provinces over. I'm in Edmonton Alberta, we went to Winnipeg Manitoba. It was the sale tent connected to a big powwow event. She drove us there in the dark and the pouring rain.

Me either really, but she did it well. When she heard it might snow though she said if it did we were holing up and waiting that out! Thankfully, there was no snow.

Living in places all my live where it never snows, I don't think I would even try it.

the thing about when we have the first snowfall here, everyone forgets what they did last year. so it's not fun. if i have to drive in it, i prefer to be the only one on the road.
my retail job doesn't care about their employees when it snows, we're open no matter what! people need their craft supplies when it's snowing, dang it. (and raining, too. )

Snow... well, that happens so often here that the only real time you have problems is when it's FREEZING RAIN. Then... it's not pretty. I've got friends in the Southern States who are shocked to learn that snow doesn't close schools and businesses here. (Some of those same friends figuratively look at me funny when I express an urgent desire to never walk in the grass in their part of the world)

can confirm, freezing rain is worse than snow! it does that here too. (southeastern PA, between Philly and Trenton, NJ.)

Most of what we had last winter was slushy rain, which then froze into sheets when it wasn't cold puddles. I'm thinking that this winter I want to buy rubber boots. Even the pain of wearing shoes with heels might be worth experiencing just to have dry feet that aren't soaked in road salt.

Dumb question. Do you like cheese steak? @trystan

Jim's is my favorite. Much better than Pat's or Geno's.

not a dumb question - i LOVE cheesesteak!!

something i just realised.
so we're thinking about moving from our current house and downsizing - definitely our expenses, but also maybe a smaller house. as our younger daughter is starting her senior year in college, we don't have any school district constraints anymore, so we can move wherever. in our area, real estate is slim pickings, and the school district we're in is a good one, so we're thinking that whoever moves in here will want to be here for the start of the school year, so we have until like the end of august to find a place and then sell this one. in this area, i think we'll be hard-pressed to find a house that we could buy outright with the proceeds of selling our current house.
so hubby's been looking other places.... like Pittsburgh, 5 hours across the state O_o it'll be a production that will uproot us, but the thought of no mortgage and no huge loans we have to pay off is very appealing.

so.... i might not have authentic philly-area cheesesteaks for a long time....
